Our Teachers
Great Humans. Great Musicians. Great Educators.
The Music Factory Philosophy
The Music Factory was founded by Ari Joshua, a lifelong musician and educator who grew up in the Seattle area and began taking lessons at a young age. As a teenager, Ari played in bands during Seattle's grunge era while also holding a chair in the acclaimed Roosevelt High School Jazz Band. After graduation, he earned a scholarship to The New School University in New York City, where he studied under many of the great masters who helped shape modern jazz.
Why does this matter? Because Ari has personally experienced nearly every type of teacher — from inspiring mentors who sparked creativity to disciplined coaches who demanded excellence. This deep, lifelong exposure to diverse teaching philosophies directly informs how The Music Factory selects and trains its staff today.
How We Select Our Teachers
When bringing new teachers onboard, we look for those who embody Ari's philosophy: a balance of artistry, empathy, and professionalism. Every instructor understands what it means to be both a working artist and a dedicated educator, ensuring our students receive lessons that are creative, structured, and rooted in real-world experience.
Artistry
Working artists who bring real performance experience
Empathy
Patient mentors who connect with every student
Professionalism
Dedicated educators committed to excellence
Two Decades of Excellence
Over the past two decades, The Music Factory has employed more than 150 teachers, ranging from Seattle's top performers to devoted educators who specialize in sharing their craft with patience and passion. We recognize that the best players aren't always the best teachers, and the best teachers aren't always the flashiest players — so we strive for the perfect balance of both.
Through a kind of organic "natural selection" ethos, our most experienced teachers have proven their dedication, skill, and ability to connect with students over time. The senior teachers share the mission and teaching style with younger teachers. The result is a team we're immensely proud of — a group of musicians and mentors who bring heart, knowledge, and integrity to every lesson.

Great Humans Who Live Music
At The Music Factory, you'll find not just great teachers, but great humans — people who live and breathe music, and who are committed to helping every student discover their own voice through the joy of learning.
